 Carved Jasper Egg
Carved Jasper Egg South Africa By Dieter Jerusalem - Idar-Oberstein, Germany
The beautiful proportions of this classic form are brought out by the rich red of the high-quality jasper which contrasts dramatically with the whitish calcite veining. Jasper possesses a Mohs hardness of 7 rendering it harder than steel, an attribute which makes it difficult to work with typical stonemason techniques—a diamond saw must be used as well as a special oil and specialized grinding/polishing powders composed of copper or other oxides.
Height 6 in.
